Beading Class at Little Oxford Kindergarten - Part 2
26 August 2009Today, we are little unorganized (:p) due to my discovery on them yesterday - Stringing beads is not a tough job for 5 year old. So, I alter the class content late at night yesterday just to spice up the workshop a little~. I let them choose what they want to work on for today! Siew Hui wants to work on a necklace for her mom where Latysha and Mia wanna make the Dragonfly~!
The initial idea is to make a dragonfly hair clip, but because the beads is slight bigger then the usual beads i use for making hair clips, so we turn it into a decorative Dragonfly where you can hang it on your keychain, your pouch, or even on your bag!

Setting the beads needed for making dragonfly
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
See how well they can follow my lead! This is something that surprised me when come to only 5 year old’s kid, they are just AMAZING!
Time is really fly when we enjoying, I did not realise that it was already 11.45am when Latysha’s Dad knocks on the door. I did not manage to take much photos and am rushing to help them finish the ring as I promised.
I really enjoy the time spending with them and this marks the end of the beading class with them. Wishes that they can keep up the good work and the interest in Art and Craft. Well done Mia! Well done Latysha! Well done Siew Hui!
Oh! Not to forget our photo taken together!
Beading Class at Little Oxford Kindergarten
25 August 2009When they saw the beads in the containers and lined up neatly on the table, you can see their eyes sparkles and the smiles on their face just calms my nerve down - Children loves bead! All my worried was gone.
“Teacher, can I take the beads?” , “Teacher, do you know what is my favorite color?”, “Teacher, what is your favorite color?” Haha! out of sudden, I felt myself “flying” as I keep on hearing them calling me “teacher” with their sweet voices which melt my heart!
I passed them the palette and have not tell them to get the beads they want, “vroom!!” they ALREADY picking their favorite color and filling up the palette!
Love to see them concentrating in their work. Mia & Siew Hui are quite a quick learner while Latysha is learning how to hold the beads correctly so can string fast.
Tips: For kid, hold the beads with your first two fingers and make sure you can see through to the other side from the hole, beads’ position is important for steady stringing.
The second art work is to string a necklace with 3 different types of beads and incorporating the stringing with math. They need to string a necklace in this order:
–> 4 bicone beads, 2 wood beads - repeat 4 times, followed by
–> insert 1 big colorful wood beads (selection of fish, heart, ladybug, flower, butterfly & cookies), 2 bicone beads, 2 wood beads, 2 bicone beads - repeat 3 times, then back to
–> 4 bicone beads, 2 wood beads - repeat 4 times, tide 2 knots and done!
All of them are really great in math and no one missed it!!
I’m so proud of them! Tomorrow, they gonna learn how to make a “Dragonfly”!
School holiday’s Beading classes for kids!
18 August 2009
The school holiday is gonna start this weekend from 22-08-09 until 31-08-09 which is Merdeka celebrations holiday! have you ever wonder what your kids can do besides tuition, tuition AND tuitions??
Beading is a great starter craft for children! BEADiCRAFT is organising a “Kid’s Beading Class” during this school holiday for your kids to have a breakaway from all homework! In fact, hooking kids on craft & creative activities is one of the best way to keep them occupied by something other than television and video games. Plus, bead crafts are great in developing skills, incorporating learning with colors, math (counting), language & social skills, you can start them from young.
Beading is suitable for all age started from 4. This is a ONE (1) day course for the duration of 3 hours, it can spread into 2 days for the group of age 4 to 6, and age 6 to 8 and it’s 1 hour 30 minutes per day (I found that kids just can’t focus on one thing for too long hour!).
This course inclusive of 4 projects and ALL materials are included and you can bring home your craft after the class, tools will be provided on loan basis during the class.
